“Come può la banca essere uno spazio per la comunità, un luogo dove incontrarsi, informarsi e lavorare insieme? Esiste un modo per ridurre le distanze tra leadership e periferie, e quali soluzioni per promuovere l’innovazione digitale? Come possiamo nutrire e ispirare il territorio per restituire le risorse da dove vengono prese?” Sono queste le domande che si è posta la BCCBasilicata quando si è rivolta a noi per la progettazione della loro nuova sede a Potenza. L’intervento ha visto la collaborazione dei team delle divisioni Worksphere e Destination per la parte progettuale, con il contributo di Creation per la realizzazione degli interni. Il risultato è una banca solida e unita, uno spazio osmotico, inclusivo e aperto che mette in primo piano la comunità e il territorio.
Oltre a continui riferimenti materici alla tradizione lucana all’interno degli ambienti, il progetto si caratterizza per la collaborazione con le maestranze e imprese locali anche nella realizzazione dei lavori della banca – coinvolgere il territorio è un gesto concreto per la BCCBasilicata.
A ispirare il concept progettuale è la figura dell’albero, metaforadel legame con il territorio. Che tipo di albero? La scelta cade sul pino loricato, una pianta tipica della Basilicata e l’elemento che più si prestaa tradurre, a livello spaziale e strategico, i valori della BCC Basilicata.
Il centro direzionale inizia dal piano terra, concepito come uno spazio aperto ad uso delle persone. Al suo interno ospita l’Auditorium, un vero e proprio punto di riferimento per la comunità locale; la biblioteca con uno spazio espositivo per mostre estemporanee o per i prodotti locali dei soci; l’angolo dedicato al fondo etico; e uno spazio co-working aperto. Nell’area welcome, un grande tavolo che la banca condivide con i propri soci e clienti.
Il corpo scala, elemento di collegamento fra i piani ma anche di continuità grafica, riporta l’immagine del pino loricato che entra a far parte del sistema di wayfinding dell’edificio.
Il primo piano celebra la tradizione dell’artigianato lucano. È costituito esclusivamente da sale riunioni, otto in tutto, dove ognuna si rivolge a un tema, un materiale ben preciso, reinterpretandolo sia a livello grafico, sia all’interno degli ambienti attraverso l’uso innovativo del materiale stesso.
Il secondo piano accoglie la leadership e riporta graficamente la parte centrale dell’albero, il tronco. L’obiettivo è rappresentare le tante realtà della BCC Basilicata attraverso la rete più estesa e solida del territorio lucano. Artigianalità e territorio, accentuati anche da un grande tavolo artigianale in legno massello all’interno della sala del consiglio, sono sempre al centro dell’attenzione.
L’ultimo piano, il quinto, è dedicato ai soci. Aperto e privo di elementi divisori, è concepito come un lounge bar da vivere in pausa pranzo, ma anche per ospitare eventi diurni o serali. Il look and feel si rifà alla parte superiore dell’albero, con i colori blu e rame brillante che alludono al cielo, e un lampadario centrale che richiama la chioma.

“In what way can a bank be a space for the community, a place of encounter, information and collaboration? Is there a way to reduce the gap between leadership and peripheral areas, and promote digital innovation? How can we nurture and inspire the territory to return the resources to where they come from?” These were the questions that BCC Basilicata asked themselves when they turned to us for the design of their new headquarters in Potenza. The project involved the collaboration of the teams of the Worksphere and Destination business units for the design part, with the contribution of Creation management unit for the realization of the interior. The result is a solid and united bank, an osmotic, inclusive and open space that foregrounds the community and the local area.
In addition to continuous material references to the Lucanian tradition inside the spaces, the project stands out for the collaboration with local craftsmen and businesses, involved also in the implementation stage of the works — engaging the local area for BCCBasilicata means making a concrete gesture.
The design concept is inspired bythe figure of the tree, a metaphor of the link with the local area. What kindof tree? The choice fell on the Heldreich’s pine, a typical plant ofBasilicata and the element that best lends itself to translating the valuesof BCC Basilicata at a spatial and strategic level.
The business center starts from the ground floor, conceived as an open space for people to use. It hosts Auditorium, a real point of reference for the local community; a library with an exhibit space for impromptu exhibitions or for showcasing members' local products; a corner dedicated to the ethical fund; and an open co-working space. The welcome area features a large table that the bank shares with its members and clients.
The stairway, which works as a connecting element between the floors but also as an element of graphic continuity, contains the image of the Heldreich’spine, which becomes part of the building’s wayfinding system.
The first floor pays tribute to the tradition of Lucanian craftsmanship. It consists exclusively of meeting rooms — eight in all — each one addressing a different theme, a particular material, reinterpreting it both graphically and through the innovative use of the material itself.
The second floor welcomes the leadership and graphically depicts the central part of the tree — the trunk. The goal is to represent the many entities of BCC Basilicata through the most extensive and solid network in the Lucanian area. Craftsmanship and territory —highlighted also by a large handcrafted solid-wood table in the boardroom — are always at the center of attention.
The top floor, the fifth, is dedicated to members. Open and without dividing elements, it is conceived as a lounge bar to be enjoyed during the lunch break, but also to host daytime or evening events. The look and feel is inspired by the crown of a tree, with bright blue and copper colors alluding to the sky, and a central chandelier that echoes the foliage.
